One of the most important parts of learning in Room 1 is that children’s interests are paramount. We’ve seen how following the children’s lead creates meaningful learning opportunities and has a lasting impact. This week, we built on their interests in: • Construction – using blocks and recycled materials to design and build imaginative structures • Space – exploring planets, stars, and rockets through play and stories • Home Life – engaging in role-play with baby dolls, kitchens, and storytelling about family routines • Wheels – investigating how things move, with toy cars, bikes, and other wheeled toysBy tapping into what excites and inspires the children, we’ve been able to extend their learning in fun and purposeful ways. ... 🐻 This week in Room 1, we explored the story Peace at Last by Jill Murphy. The children really enjoyed following Mr Bear on his journey through the house as he tried to find a quiet place to sleep! It sparked lots of discussion about the different sounds we hear in various environments – from ticking clocks to snoring, dripping taps, and even birds chirping. We’ve also been learning about night and day routines, talking about what we do to get ready for the day and how we prepare for bedtime. This led to some lovely conversations about our families and home life, as the children shared their own routines and special moments at home.As part of our learning, we explored daytime and nighttime sounds, helping the children to notice how different times of day bring different experiences. This ties in beautifully with understanding the world around us and how it changes. And of course… Halloween is on its way! The children are already getting excited – talking about costumes, pumpkins, and spooky decorations. We’ll be building on this excitement in the coming days with themed activities and stories. It’s been a fun and engaging week full of learning, sharing, and a little bit of spooky anticipation! ... Thank you to everyone who has donated to our mental health awareness day. The money you helped raise is going to the charity ‘Young Minds Matter’ 😊Room 1 and 2 have taken part in supporting our ‘Hello Yellow’ day by wearing their yellow clothes and accessories. To encourage our children to feel happy, positive and ‘yellow’ we have made some yellow crowns, and decorated them with yellow sequins, feathers and tissue paper. 💛Room 1 have had so much fun experimenting with cars and trucks to see which type of tyre marks they make by pushing them through yellow paint. Following the yellow theme the children have loved playing in the water tray; with lots of counting whilst singing the song ‘5 little ducks’. 🦆In Room 2 we have been colouring pictures to represent who we love and how much we love them. The children made some beautiful pictures and made their friends very happy when sharing their pictures. At group time we played a memory game where we took it in turns to say what makes us happy, then tried to remember what makes our friends happy too. Everyone displayed great remembering skills! The yellow theme has crept through our setting all day. Some other activities have involved the children playing in the sensory tray with yellow bricks, yellow rice, yellow pom poms and yellow jelly. We have discussed what the objects feel like, if they were hard or squishy, and which we predicted would be heavier or lighter when we tested them on the scales. What a wonderful day everyone has had. 💛 ... See MoreSee Less

What a busy week we have had in Room 2! Following this week’s story of The Little Red Hen, we have been baking bread, working as a team and helping each other; unlike Little Red Hen’s friends. 🐔 🥖Enhancing our play experiences, we have built a farm shop with real fruit and vegetables to buy and sell. The children loved using the trolleys to transport the food from the shop to the mud kitchen where they used knives to chop up their ingredients to create some delicious meals. 🥕🥦🥬🥔Over the past week the children have shown an interest in the birds visiting our garden areas. Our feathery visitors inspired us to create tasty little treats for them by threading Cheerios onto pipe cleaners and hanging them in the trees for the birds to eat. We saw several different types of birds, including little black birds and large pigeons. 🐦What a fun week 😊 ... See MoreSee Less
